Machuca Homes is the trading name of a business operating from the United Kingdom. It is the name that appears on your card statement when you pay for a stay, and it is the name responsible for this website and for the platform behind it.

Machuca Homes is not a registered company. Where that changes, this page is where it will be said, together with the law that governs your agreement — see Applicable law below.

Machuca Homes operates an online platform where hosts publish homes in the Machuca Valley and the communities around it, in Costa Rica, and guests request stays in them.

Machuca Homes does not own, operate or accommodate anyone in any home listed here. The accommodation contract is between the guest and the host. What Machuca Homes is responsible for — operating the platform, collecting payment as agent for the host, administering security-deposit authorizations, applying the cancellation policies and mediating disputes — is set out in the Terms and Conditions, which is your agreement with us.

Listings are written by the hosts who publish them. Descriptions, photographs, prices, rules and availability are theirs. Machuca Homes reviews what is submitted and may refuse or remove anything, but reviewing is not verifying: it does not warrant that a description is complete, that a photograph is current, or that a home is fit for a particular purpose.

Prices and availability change, and a price shown in search or on a listing page is an invitation to request a stay, not an offer that binds anyone. What binds is the amount you are shown at checkout and agree to. Machuca Homes may correct an obvious error in a price or a description at any time, including after a request has been sent.

Anything published here for guidance — how fees work, what a deposit covers, how cancellations are calculated — describes the platform as it is today. Where such a page and the Terms and Conditions disagree, the Terms govern.

The Machuca Homes name and logo, the design and layout of this site, its text, its software and the way its information is arranged belong to Machuca Homes or are used with permission. They are protected, and nothing on this page grants you any right in them.

You may read this site, print pages of it for your own use, and share links to it. You may not copy, republish, adapt or distribute any part of it for any other purpose without written permission.

Content published by users — listing text, photographs, videos and reviews — belongs to the people who submitted it, who license it to Machuca Homes on the terms set out in the Terms and Conditions. It is no more yours to copy than ours.

You may use this site to find a home, to publish one, and to manage stays and messages that belong to you. You may not:

• extract, copy or reproduce listings, prices, photographs, profiles or reviews, whether by hand or by any automated means;
• use this site or anything published on it to build, train or operate a competing service;
• approach hosts or guests in order to take them off the platform;
• interfere with the site’s operation or security, attempt to reach parts of it you have not been given access to, or work around any restriction placed on your account;
• impersonate anyone, or publish anything unlawful, misleading or infringing.

Machuca Homes may refuse, restrict or end access to the platform in accordance with the Terms and Conditions.

Machuca Homes runs this site with reasonable skill and care, and does not promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted or free of error. Parts of it may be suspended, withdrawn or changed at any time, and features may be added or removed without notice.

Nothing here excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. The limits that apply to your agreement with Machuca Homes are in the Terms and Conditions.

Where this site links to somewhere else, or embeds something from somewhere else, the link is for convenience and is not an endorsement. Machuca Homes does not control those sites, is not responsible for their content, and does not decide what they do with information they collect from you. Their terms and their privacy policies apply once you are there — which is why the Privacy Policy says what is loaded from elsewhere on this site, and when.

If something on this site infringes your rights, is unlawful, or should not be published, write to hola@machucahomes.com and say where it is — the page address — what the problem is, and how to reach you.

Reports are read by a person and are acted on where there is a reason to. Machuca Homes may remove or hide content while a report is being looked at, and doing so is not an admission that the report is right.

What Machuca Homes knows about you, how it comes to know it, who else sees it and how long it is kept — including cookies, measurement and how to exclude yourself from it — is in the Privacy Policy. It is not repeated here, deliberately: one document owns that subject so that there is only one place for it to be wrong.

Your agreement with Machuca Homes is the Terms and Conditions. Nothing published here limits the rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country you live in, or your right to bring a claim there.

Where the law of the country a home is in applies to a stay in it — safety, occupancy, taxes, permits — it applies whatever this site says, and it is the host’s responsibility to comply with it.
