Blue Jungle Room

Small, host-led arts community in the mountains of Atenas housing up to 6 creatives at a time in 2 houses. We are looking for residents for 1 month (30 nights) or longer. Whether you're taking photos of toucans in the private woods, writing poetry, composing music poolside, or painting the picturesque mountain views, we ask that you are involved in the arts in some way while you're here. 

We host 2 weekly gatherings onsite, an arts cocktail/mocktail hour and an open studio. We also have strong local connections and knowledge of the area, and a relationship with the best local guide for day trips. If you're looking to see the sights and be social, we've got you covered. If you prefer some peace and quiet, there are a lot of opportunities for privacy on the property as well. These include a freestanding art studio, a rancho/gazebo, several patios, and 14 acres of forested trails.  

Because we're at a higher altitude than the town of Atenas and have a lot of trees, it's cooler and breezier than in the city center. The house uses a design that maximizes airflow via screened windows and high ceilings. Our pool is heated by a rooftop solar system so it's comfortable to use day or night.

PLEASE NOTE: your Blue Jungle room in the casita must be accessed by stairs – about 4 flights. They have non-slip paint, an iron railing, and are lit by night. A grassy trail with a few built-in, but steeper stairs is also available from the other side. 1 adult only, no kids, no pets. There is one senior dog living on the property, Mr. Grinch. He can't access private spaces and prefers to be ignored. Weekly cleaning is included in your price. The gardening crew comes two mornings per month, usually for fewer than 3 hours.
